Housing

Through Nocefresca, the artists have the chance to become authentic temporary inhabitants of Sardinian rural villages thanks to our network of locals supporting the project. By providing their vacant dwellings during periods of less tourist flow or closure, they give us enormous help in organizing extended stays for the artists.

Both shared and private apartments are available according to your needs. You may elect to live with other international artists and have many opportunities for sharing, collaborating in creativity, building international friendships and professional associations. You may also choose to live independently and establish a private work studio at your residence.

The houses are equipped with full amenities: kitchen, hot water, WiFi, washer. Bed sheets and towels are provided, as are basic kitchen necessities and appliances. The hosts do a general cleaning at the beginning and at the end of your stay. Each artist is responsible for the recycling. Free parking available on the street.

This gives you a glimpse of what some of our accommodations look like, as their availability changes throughout the year. Two steps away from the studios building, they still bear the traces of who lived there before. Is not unusual to find family pictures (you can also spot Sardinian wedding dresses!), old wooden closets, traditional woven baskets hanging from the walls, and quirky tools that make each home unique. If you like peculiar houses sprinkled with a bit of vintage, far from hotel standards and Airbnb neutrality, then Nocefresca's are for you!

The hosts

Antonella

Her family owns Casa Bagnolo, home of our studios and the Pepebianco association. The meeting with her was precious: once again this year she will be an important point of reference in the country, able to put our artists in contact with the local community.

“They call me Antonella, my spiritual name is Deg Joti Kaur. I'm 39 years old and I'm from Mills, the place where I chose to return after travelling in different countries around the world. Returning to Sardinia I rediscovered the pleasure of slow rhythms, approaching to permaculture and the practice of Yoga. I like to organize events that bring together arts and artists of different nature, from cooking to theater, from music to local crafts.”

Italo and Leo

Italo and Leo are designers of sustainable gardens and nurserymen. They met in Chicago and then decided to move to Sardinia, Italo’s homeland, where they funded their own nursery: I Campi. They own Casa Oaxaca, a building that hosts some of our studios with a lovely internal courtyard designed by them.

“Our job is to produce plants and conceive new green spaces that harmonize with the character of the earth, architecture and local people. We believe that innovation in landscape architecture in Sardinia must start from the existing reality, which can be enriched without interventions and manipulations that change its identity.”

Michela

We met Michela in 2020 when we were still exploring the place and stayed in her vacation home for a few nights. We told her about our idea and she was immediately enthusiastic and interested in the project.

“I like to travel, and I believe that the exchange between different countries and cultures enriches and forms people by opening minds and hearts. I am a person who always wants to learn new things; reading and music support me a lot. It will be an immense pleasure for me to be able to welcome through Nocefresca this wave of artistic energy!”

Ale e Giorgia

Alessandro is an educator and a farmer, Giorgia is a vet. We met Alessandro at Casa Bagnolo and since then we have been organizing many visits to his farm.

“We are Ale and Giorgia and we live with our children in a small farm in the countryside of Milis. It has been designed following the permaculture approach, and Alessandro works there as a teacher and tutor. We like to live in a simple way, with lots of animals around! Our small social farm welcomes rehabilitation and educational projects and produces food for a small CSA.”
