Studios

Our studios are located in three different premises. Casa Bagnolo, Casa Oaxaca, and Studio Cottage.

Casa Bagnolo is also Pepebianco's headquarters, a local cultural association that runs the meal services and gives extensive support to our activities and events. From here, it is possible to easily reach the countryside and experience a Mediterranean lifestyle made of peaceful days, natural-food diets and the company of warm communities.
Inside Casa Bagnolo there are four studios, each equipped with a desk, rolling chair, armchair, storage space, and good lighting, and an open communal space with a library, a refreshment point for a cup of coffee, two desks for reading or writing, a corner with sofa and armchairs great for casual chats, movie screenings or just relaxing.
Outdoors, Casa Bagnolo offers a cozy courtyard with tables in the shade perfect for working or eating and armchairs under the palms to soak in the Sardinian sun. There is also a shed with some tools functioning as a small workshop that can be accessed upon request.

Casa Oaxaca is an old house refurbished by our hosts Italo and Leo, equipped with two bedrooms, two studios equipped with a desk, rolling chair, armchair, storage space, and good lighting, and an 80 sq m outdoor workspace in the internal courtyard: a small oasis of peace ideal for those who want to work outdoors, designed by our hosts: the local garden designers Italo and Leo.

Studio cottage is a cozy wooden house located in the countryside, just a 15-minute walk from Casa Bagnolo. It is a completely private space functioning both as studio and accommodation.

Which studio to choose?

Depending on your medium, different studios are more suitable for you than others and can be allocated based on your needs. For example, visual artists could need wider spaces if they are making larger pieces, while composers often need a more isolated room with better acoustics. There are also smaller desktop spaces if you like to work in open shared areas, outdoors or at home.

Studio Ramiro

This studio is located in Casa Bagnolo. It is perfect if you are going to make big-size works. It has a maxi table and wide walls to hang canvases or any large pieces. You are also very close to the courtyard where you will find a sink if you need to clean brushes. Cooling (AC conditioner) and heating systems (pellet stove, fireplace) are shared with the communal areas, which are on the same floor as the studio, the refreshment point and the toilets. The studio is generally cool, but you will have access to a fan in the summer.

Studio Marco

This studio is perfect if you are going to make big-size works. It has a big table and a wooden board to hang canvases or any large pieces. You are also very close to the courtyard where you will find a sink if you need to clean brushes. Instead of a wooden door, it has a curtain which is perfect if you don't like to be closed in your studio. The natural light coming in during the afternoon is beautiful. You could hear the artist in the studio above you due to a small hole in the wooden ceiling that let some sounds come through. You also have the AC system inside and the toilet on the same floor.

Studio Nick

This studio is located in Casa Bagnolo. Many different kinds of artists choose this studio, photographers, painters, textile artists, etc. It is on the first floor, so it has a nice rooftop view and natural light. You also have the AC system inside and the toilet on the same floor. You could hear the artist in the studio below you due to a small hole in the wooden floor that let some sounds come through.

Studiolo

This studio is located in Casa Bagnolo. It is a cozy and intimate studio particularly ideal for writers, composers, digital nomads or any other artists who are going to make small-size works. You have the AC system inside and the toilet on the same floor. Hanging on the wall there is a wooden panel to pin sketches, notes and other materials. In one corner, there is an armchair for moments of reading and rest.

Studio Italo and Oaxaca Studio Garden

This space is located in Casa Oaxaca and the picture is not updated. The new furniture is similar to the one present in the Casa Bagnolo artist studios, comprising storage space and work chairs. We can install a wooden panel on the wall upon request.
This studio is suitable for different kinds of artists, such as photographers, painters, textile artists, etc. It is on the ground floor, with easy access to the internal courtyard where you will find a sink if you need to clean brushes and an 80 sq m communal shaded workspace at your disposal (Oaxaca studio garden, shared with one other artist). You also have the AC system inside and the toilet on the same floor. In this building, there are two bedrooms where other residents will sleep.

Studio Leo and Oaxaca Studio Garden

This space is located in Casa Oaxaca and the picture is not updated. The new furniture is similar to the one of Casa Bagnolo artist studios, comprising storage space and work chairs. We can install a wooden panel on the wall upon request.

Oaxaca Studio Garden

Connected to the Leo and Italo studios, Oaxaca Studio Garden is an 80 sq m outdoor workspace, whose garden was designed by our hosts and landscape designers Italo and Leo. This space will be shared by the two artists who will choose the studios in the same building, Studio Leo and Studio Italo.

Studio Cottage

This studio cottage is located in the social farm “Ohminò”, a 15-minute walk from Casa Bagnolo, the main studio building in the very center of Milis.

It comprises a studio room, a double-bed bedroom, a kitchenette, and a bathroom. It includes hot water, an AC system, a washer, and WiFi suitable for basic tasks. For extensive data usage, we recommend utilizing the connection at Casa Bagnolo. Bed sheets, towels, basic kitchen necessities and appliances (such as two-plate stove gas, coffee maker, and kettle) are provided. Alessandro and Giorgia, your hosts who run Ohminò, live in another house in the farm and do a general cleaning at the beginning and the end of your stay, and you are kindly responsible for recycling.

The studio room is furnished with a table and a chair, a simple setting that allows you to work in a cozy environment with natural light. Here, you are free to engage in a multitude of creative activities, including painting, writing, reading, and even playing and listening to music. If you plan to work with materials that might be challenging to keep tidy, we encourage you to explore our other studios.

Step outside the cottage and discover a serene space with shaded tables where you can continue working on your projects or simply unwind and relax. Musicians and other performers will also have the opportunity to arrange live shows in a dedicated area outdoors on the farm.

In addition to the cottage, you have access to the communal areas at Casa Bagnolo, which you can easily reach either by foot, driving - free park available both in the village and by the cottage - or cycling. Your host provides you with a simple mountain bike you can use to explore Milis and the countryside comfortably. If you are a countryside enthusiast who doesn't mind crossing dirt roads to reach the cottage, then this is the ideal option for you; a completely private working and living space in an authentic rural setting. The peaceful sounds of nature will inspire your creativity, and donkeys, sheep, and dogs - to name just a few - will quickly become your best friends. Together with a wide variety of lush vegetation, they live on the land that surrounds both the cottage and Alessandro’s house, your host and owner of the farm.

You can also bring your pet along! It is welcome to stay indoors or in the small animal enclosure in the back garden, which is currently under construction. If it is used to socialize with other animals, it can also roam outdoors with them. Please note that for now, we are not able to accommodate pets in the other houses or studios.
